Questions about the first album (lyrics, song writing, inspiration):Sun-Ce: If you had to describe Project Destiny with 1 word only! What would the word be?Dignity: UnbelievableMatt: What is the thing you are the most proud of about Dignity's debut album? You can only pick one! (it can be a song, a part of a song, reception and critic, or just any part of the recording process... Anything!)Dignity: The thing we are really proud of is how we managed to form this band. It was a long and hard way to find the right members for the band and we really fought small battles to make the album as good as possible. But actually, we think that we made it. The other thing we are really proud of is of course the package of the album. That means artwork, production and the music.----------------------------------- Questions about the band in general (shows, general stuff):Sun-Ce: "I read you were looking for the perfect "package" to start touring... What is that "perfect package" and do you have any news/rumors concerning a possible tour? We want rumors (or truth!)! "Dignity: A tour with Europe around the world would be great. But we don't care whom we tour with as long as we can play live! Getshuyama: "All your songs freaking rock, and I wondered if you were planning to do any music VIDEO? Or perhaps with a song from the next album? "Dignity: We are planning to do a video for the next album. But actually, we talked to some producers. Let's see what the upcoming album will bring! DarkEdy: "Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (this is a job interview question! :3)"Dignity: A really hard question because you never can plan details for 10 years. But we hope that we still release good albums and that we still play with the lust and fun we do now! Sun-Ce: "Is there a special routine you do before shows?"Dignity: Eating, drinking and toilet (very important)!snowlover: "Which was your favorite song on your first gig? Which one do you think sounded the best? And overall, how satisfied are you with the first gig?"Dignity: First gig is always the first gig. It was not bad but we still missed the routine we had with our other bands. But that will come after the next shows. So all our songs sounded ok for the first time we played them live. There was no favorite one and not a complete fucked one! Vegeta: "What do you think is your strength as a band?"Dignity: Because we all come from different cities or countries we cannot rehearse like other bands. So we have to think professional and bundle all the energy for the rehearsals that we have. Vegeta: "What do you think is your weakness as a band?"Dignity: Our strength also is our weakness.Vegeta: "What do you think is the most important to be a good musician?"Dignity: Practicing the instrument until you reach a high level and writing good songs! Vegeta: "What do you think is the more important for a good live performance?" Dignity: To drink enough to eat enough and to shit and piss before the show... haha!----------------------------------- Questions about the upcoming album:ICARUS: "I really liked the cover "Don't Pay the Ferryman". I didn't know Chris de Burgh but it was a very good song. Are you going to record another cover for your next album?"Dignity: Actually we have not decided if we would do another cover or not. If we do another one we think it will be again a classic from the eighties. There are enough songs that could fit very well to a metal band. ICARUS: "For me it's very important the artwork because not only it's the visual presentations of the album its also link with what the band wants to say (visually) about any particular song, or a statement, etc... I really liked the Project Destiny artwork. So are you going to present something like that? With good quality?"Dignity: Well, we had a lot of positive feedback for the artwork {P.D}. We also think that Felipe Machado did a great job and that it's absolutely possible that we work with him again. First of all we have to collect ideas for our next (still unnamed) album for the lyrics and the artwork before we think about who will do the next artwork.the_Cooler: "I want to know how does the general mood of this one {new album} compares to the previous one (even if it is not done yet, from what you have now) and if you had to describe the difference between the new one and the old one with only one word, what would it be?"Dignity: At the moment we already have some finished songs but we also have a lot of ideas that still needs to be worked on. Of course we still make Melodic Metal, this will not change but we also try not to recreate "Project Destiny". It looks like the guitars became a bit heavier and we also experimented with different tunings to give the songs a special mood. We still have songs in normal E tuning but also some in Bflat oder D. In general we try to make the next album as varied as possible.Sun-Ce: "How many songs will be on the next record? "Dignity: It's hard to say that at this point but it will be something around 10 songs. We think that it's better to put 9 super songs on an album rather than 12 including 3 which suck! haha!Sun-Ce: "What will the new album sound the most like? (If you could compare it with a song from "Project Destiny")"Dignity: It's impossible to compare the new album with the songs from "Project Destiny". With the last album we marked the first step in DIGNITY's life and we try to make the next step with the upcoming album. As we said before, the new album maybe gets more guitars but may also be more melodic.Sun-Ce: "Is it {new album} still planned to be released around the same time that Project Destiny was?"Dignity: No, that's impossible. But we'll give our best to release it this year. We'll keep you updated via our fanpage about the release date!Sun-Ce: "Have you started recording already? If so, which is the song that you think will be the best? Your favorite?"Dignity: Yes we started with the pre-production. This is a process where we put all our ideas together and form new songs. At the moment it looks like we can start with the album recordings in late summer or early autumn. It depends on how fast we finish with the pre-production. Actually we don't have any favorite songs. They all are brilliant! haha!Sun-Ce: "Who has composed the lyrics this time? Is it exclusively Jake again? Are the "themes" still the same?"Dignity: Again Jake will do all the vocal lines and lyrics. Because he has not started with the lyrics yet it's hard to say what kind of "themes" they will be about!Sun-Ce: "What is a normal day in the studio?"Dignity: When we record an album we don't stick together the whole time. So everyone comes to the studio when it's time to play his instrument. We start with recording usually really early in the morning. That means 10 a.m.! During the recording process we try to stay really sober but this changes after the work is done haha. During studio time we are totally concentrated on the music and the recordings. There is not much space for other things at that moment. That helps to record the album really fast with a good mood and good takes. It also helps saving a lot of studio money! Sun-Ce: "Is there any difference between how you did the recording for the Project Destiny and the new one? Or is it the same way?"Dignity: Because we had such a good experience with the previous album we are doing the recordings the same way. The only thing that is not fixed at the moment is who will mix the album. But because we had a really good time in Sweden it's not really hard to make a decision hehe.Matt: "How were the songs written this time? Was it done the same way as it was done for Project Destiny? And also, do you have any kind of "recipe" or "way-to-go" when writing songs? By that I mean, do you usually start with a specific instrument (i.e. Guitars first, then drums and bass, then lyrics) or it's completely random?"Dignity: Usually we start a song by collecting ideas and trying to put them together. So sometimes a song is build upon a guitar riff or a great vocal line, sometimes its build upon a drum groove. So there is no real recipe to write a song. The only requirement is that the idea must fit perfectly to DIGNITY and of course it has to be good. But we did that before with "Project Destiny" too so it's still the same way. The only thing now is that all the songs and ideas are very fresh while on "P.D." we also used songs that where 5 years old or sometimes older!Matt: "How advanced is the recording of the next album right now? What is done and what is going to be done soon? "Dignity: At the moment we are still working on the pre-productions. There are a lot of stuff to be done for the new album. Songs, lyrics, artwork, recording.....puh that will be a hard summer!----------------------------------- Specific questions: [to Roland]ICARUS: I love your drumming, you have a unique style man, how do you see the evolution of your drumming?Roland: Thanks. I think that the drum style evolves all the time in a different way. I also get influenced by the music I listen to and the music I play. It doesn't totally change the style I have but it has an influence. ICARUS: In the Edenbridge's Grand Design I saw your tattoos... Do they have a meaning?Roland: No, my tattoos don't have a meaning. It is just that they are mine and I love them And I still don't have enough, haha.ICARUS: When you play drums, what is the thing that you like to play the most? (ex.. the double bass, plates, toms...)Roland: It is the whole set I like to play. I can't say that I like one thing the most. It is the combination of everything I have and use. But I like to play double bass grooves with different patterns. ICARUS: Can you mention some records that impressed you by the way that the drummers play?Roland: Unfortunately not. I always listen to the whole CD, not only to drummers. But the last drummer I met on his workshop was Benny Greb. He is amazing.----------------------------------- Other questions: [to everyone]DarkEdy: "What is your favorite meal??"Martin: dahl (a traditional indian dish) Frank: Ciorba de perisoare without Suppenwürfel! Roland: I don't have a special favorite meal. As long as it is good... I like it...DarkEdy: "What is your worse fear??"Martin: to loose the one I love Frank: A world without me! Roland: The death of family and friendsDarkEdy: "What are your dreams??"Martin: a society that respects any form of live, human or non-human. Frank: Usually very wet! Roland: To manage life in a good wayDarkEdy: "If you were a superhero, who would it be? Why??"Martin: I would be "Mighty Martin", better than Spiderman & Batman together. Why not? Frank: I would be "Silar" from HEROES Roland: The Joker ! No need of being nice, haha.DarkEdy: "If you were in another period of time, when would it be? Why??"Martin: In the future, when we have developed better ways of treating each other and our environment. Frank: The late 60s or early 70s must have been great because I read a lot of cool books from that area. But after I read Mötley Crüe's "The Dirt" my favorite period is the 80s! Roland: Somewhere in the future. I already read about the pastDarkEdy: "If you were an animal, what would it be? Why??"Martin: As I consider humans as animals, I would choose to be a human again, as I'm very happy to be one now. Frank: A lolCat. Because that i iz funny!DarkEdy: "What is the country you want to tour to?"Martin: Spain would be great! Frank: My favorite county to tour.... maybe The World! Roland: That is a simple one: THE WORLDMatt: "To continue Edy's non-music related questions... If you could only take 3 objects and one person with you on a desert island for the rest of your life... What/who would you take with you?!"Martin: My girlfriend (plus dog, if possible...), of course. A guitar, a pick- and now it gets difficult. probably a ship! Frank: 3 Objects: 1 Schweizer Knife, 1 elastic band, 1 Hammer. Person: MacGyver Roland: An airplane (or helicopter), a pilot and a beautiful stewardess who serves me drinks and food, haha ! There is no use of an deserted island. It is nice to relax for a few days but I think it is boring to live there for the rest of your life.
